Every once in a while I tripped over syrup, but I loved the independence and freedom the Boxcar Children had. Gertrude Chandler Warner wrote the original book after dreaming for years about setting up house in a caboose when she was a child. After receiving many fan letters, she decided to write more adventures for Henry, Jessie, Violet and Benny. While many series have gone out of print, this one has not and is being continued after Warner's death. Warner wrote the first 19 of the 48 book titles in the on-going series.
Since the Boxcar Children talk about food all the time, it is only natural someone should write a cookbook, which is exactly what has happened--Boxcar Children Cookbook by Diane Blain.
