The series is similar to Babysitter's Club in that each book centers on a different member of the club, I mean troop. Since Brownies are in first, second or third grades, the books are early readers with illustrations throughout. I think they are probably better for the younger girls.
Many bookstores do not carry the series (I have seen a few titles in Borders but none at Barnes & Noble), but you can order them on-line and have them in a few days :) (except the out-of-print titles).
