Donna Parker books seemed more like my own life than Nancy Drew. Her problems were usually more typical.
Donna is 14 at the beginning of series, attending junior high in Summerfield, New York. She lives with her parents, Sam and Grace Parker, and kid brother, Jimmy, who's 8. Dad is a businessman, Mom is a homemaker (former teacher) and Jimmy's a nuisance who is crazy about baseball.
Donna's best friend is Ricky (short for Fredericka) West, a dramatic, imaginative redhead, in contrast to demure, down to earth brunette Donna. Both are good students, and share many friends. But as they grow older, they find that their interests are sometimes different, and that sometimes they have to each go their own way.
